Private Alex karuhanga who is suspected to have stolen a pistol from his friend who also serves as a police officer was tracked and arrested on Wednesday in Lugazi Mukono by anti-terrorism security personnel.
Karuhanga who is attached to Lugazi army barracks in Buikwe district allegedly stole the pistol from Florence Awino a police constable attached to Aviation police barracks in Kigungu.
He was later arrested and was transported back to his rural home in Rushango ,Kabambiro in Kamwenge district on Thursday where the security personnel recovered the stolen pistol that had been hidden in a hole which the suspect had made inside his bedroom.
However during the search , security also recovered several army uniforms and other items at the suspect’s home.
Florence Awino had earlier reported to security officials about the disappearance of her pistol on 8 February and she suspected her friend Alex Karuhanga which prompted security personnel to track his movements and conversations.
Karuhanga was returned to Entebbe by police to face charges of being in possession of government stokes.
