UNRA acquires new mobile station trucks for road maintenance

Following last year’s report, UNRA announced that it had lined up 22 roads in different parts of the country that were set to be upgraded in order to help on the number of tarmacked roads in the country.

According to UNRA officials the amphibious excavator will be deployed to areas in our network that may be submerged including lading sites and low lying areas.

The fleet of six mobile trucks according to UNRA will be distributed across the regional offices around the country.

“ The heavy machines we use in maintenance of works regularly requires service and repairs.We have traditionally brought the machines to workshops for service and repairs. Now with mobile workshops we can service and repair the equipment in their deployed locations, “ said Allen Kagina the UNRA Executive Director.

She added that roads either to be upgraded or designed and built include Kiboko- Yumbe – Moyo ( 103.08km), Luwero-Butalangu road ( 30 km , Kabale -Lake Bunyonyi and Kisoro- Mgaginga roads (33.2km) among other networks.

Officials also said that UNRA will also upgrade Kisoro – Rubuguru – Muko road ( 72 km) Karenga- Kapedo – Kaboong road ( 67.5km) Ishasha- Katunguru road ( 88km) Nabumali Butaleja -Namutumba road and several bridges will also be constructed in the different parts of the country to help improve mobility.
