Uganda, South Africa pen down 5 deals as countries reposition to harden ties
President Cyril Romaphasa and Yoweri Museveni have penned down five MOUs by their respective governments of Uganda and South Africa in a move aimed at cementing strong political and economic relations between the two countries in the fields of women, youth and persons with disabilities.

President Romaphasa highlighted that while economic relations with the two countries have grown over the years ,South Africa was concerned over the decline in the number of South African businesses operating in Uganda.

However the two heads of state gave a firm commitment to resolve challenges experienced by the private sector in both countries and further tasked ministers responsible for trade and foreign affairs in there respective countries to urgently put in place a system to address these challenges and ensure protection
In addition Ramaphosa expressed gratitude to Yoweri Museveni for Uganda’s continuous support for Eskimo in its operations in the pearl of Africa since 2003.

“Eskimo’s very successful 20 year concession which ends on 31 March 2023 symbolic the strong economic relations between South Africa and Uganda,” Romaphasa stated.

In addition the two heads of state participated in the South African Uganda Business Forum held at Gallagher Estate under the theme “Boosting trade and investment relations between South Africa and Uganda comprising of the private sectors of South Africa and Uganda as well as state owned entities.

In his speech the president of Uganda applauded his host for the generous reception extended to him and his delegates during the state visit and further extended an invitation to Romaphasa to visit the pearl of Africa on dates to be agreed upon and communicated through diplomatic channels.
